La calce viva è un prodotto eccellente per migliorare la struttura dei terreni argillosi e limosi. La calce viva si assimila nel terreno attraverso la flocculazione dell'argilla e porta ad una buona frammentazione del terreno. Inoltre, la calce viva ha molti effetti: è efficace contro le lumache e contro malattie come l'ernia del cavolo e la rizotonia. È disponibile sia macinata, sia granulare.
